Rushton recently valued a Victorian mansion house in Berkshire. Originally a private dwelling, the fine red-brick structure at the time of the assessment was home to a school.
The owners had mistakenly insured the building on a modern materials basis, despite being Grade II listed with stone mullion, towers and turrets.
We were able to show that the reinstatement cost was actually three times the price that they originally placed on the property and that they needed to increase their sum insured in order to be fully protected in the event of a claim.
